In the development of my art, I work intuitively, creating a dialogue with my work as I manipulate paint and other mediums to describe emotion, narrative, or concept. Every mark is a response to the previous mark whether expressed in color, form, line, space, gesture, or movement. This allows for a journey of exploration and discovery.
My work is influenced by the delicacy in the definitive linework of Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, the relation of edge and line in the works of Patrick Surgalski, the confident marks and traditional imagery of Hung Liu, and the balance of the representional and the abstract in the works of Kelly Clark.
Painting is a means for me to connect with the subconcious and the spiritual, to make the intangible tangible, and the unseen visible. Through my work, I share my spiritual journey.
