In the development of my art, I work intuitively, creating a dialogue with my work as I manipulate paint and other mediums to describe emotion, narrative, or concept. Every mark is a response to the previous mark whether expressed in color, form, line, space, gesture, or movement. This allows for a journey of exploration and discovery.
My work is influenced by the delicacy in the definitive line work of Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, the relation of edge and line in the works of Patrick Surgalski, the confident marks and traditional imagery of Hung Liu, and the light-hearted representational works of Kelly Clark.
Painting is a means for me to connect with the subconscious and the spiritual, to make the intangible tangible, and the unseen visible. Through my work, I share my spiritual journey.
